I really loved this short story! Alucard is probably my favourite character in the whole series. Schwarb does have some issues with timeline being a bit vague which can feel like there are some inconsistencies, in this and the overall series, particularly related to the relationship between the two characters in this story. 
However it doesn't deminish my enjoyment of the story.

Character has abusive family members who are homophobic and assult/use their power over the main character to abuse and control them. The character has a pretty rough time at points, however gets out and has good/hopeful ending. Story presents it well and does not condone any of the abusive elements/actions.
