I freaking love this series. There was quite a bit more of dragon naturalism in this book than the last, but we do get to meet characters from different countries in the land. What I love most about this series is that the world building seems so natural. It’s almost as if I’m peeking into a slightly alternate universe where dragons exist. I love the science, love the dragons, and love the bizarre situations Isabella manages to find herself in.

Another entertaining adventure of Isabelle Camhurst. I still adore her bucking the societal norms for her alternate universe Victorian era. The description of the creatures she encounters are phenomenal as ever. I particularly enjoy her interaction with her son in this volume. Isabelle can't seem to adhere to anyone's expectations of behavior, and I just love it. My particular fave side character in this one is Heali’i. It was interesting to read how the author portrayed someone in a primitive society who did not fit their own, or Isabelle's expectations. Quite good. I won't dig more into that because spoilers. But I loved it.
