Volume 16 continues the crew's search for a doctor in the Drum Kingdom! Sanji and Luffy are trying to find the last remaining doctor at the very top of the mountains, but encounter some obstacles along the way. One of them is Wapol, the former king turned pirate, who is now back to take his country. Meanwhile, Vivi and Usopp are trying to help the best they can and Zoro is getting lost in the snow 😂

I loved the introduction of Chopper and seeing a flashback about his background story! Chopper is a reindeer who ate the Human-Human devil fruit and gained the intelligence of humans. Sadly, that meant he became an outcast among his people and humans alike. It's a heartbreaking story, as Chopper is viewed as a monster and only a quack doctor called Hiriluk decides to give him a chance. I already love him so much, not only because of his emotional story, but also because Chopper is cute and such a bad liar 😂 His interactions with the Strawhats are hilarious already!

Chopper and Hiriluk's friendship was top-notch. I love how doc cares about his dear friend and never treated him any differently. That was so heartwarming and sweet. Hiriluk even ate the poisonous mushroom that Chopper found in the forest and fought other reindeer just to retrieve it showing how their relationship and brotherhood were unmatched. Doc Hiriluk, even if he's quack, spent the last 30 years bringing the cherry blossoms to a place that was winter all year, it sounded impossible to do, but he did it with his unending perseverance. And even if it was his last hours of living, he wanted to cure the people who were sick. Damn doc, you were the best! Huhu, the part where he said that a man dies when he is forgotten played with my heartstrings. Waaaah! I also loved that Chopper wanted to be a doctor. He must have seen how Hiriluk worked so he got inspired. The doctor agreeing to teach chopper to be a doctor was awesome, because, with her temper, she would never have agreed to do it. But she saw Hiriluk's legacy and respected it. Doc Hiriluk died for something, that was for sure!✨ This could easily be my favorite volume so far❤️

I think that this book was a good continuation of the story so far, we got to learn more about the history of Chopper which I think is a good addition to the story. Overall I think this book did some really good character building and I'm excited to see what happens next!

This series somehow manages to make me laugh so hard and yet feel such heavy emotions all in the same volume, I truly love this series with a passion and am so glad that I started to read it.
I love the heart of Luffy, using all of his strength and willpower to save Nami and then the whole background of Chopper is great! In addition to showing the oppressiveness and scoundrel Wapol is just shows how insanely powerful Luffy really is, he really is a force of nature than a man and I love him for it!
