This book was described to me as "ACOTAR but with queer and POC representation." And yeah, that's pretty close. Enjoyed the world building, though I definitely cringed at the writing and dialogue at times. Still though, zoomed through it and will eagerly continue the series

2024: unlike my first read and much to the disappointment of my memory, this wasn't that great... In particular, I hated the MC the entire time and this fated mate bullshit is exhausting. I also don't understand
how her brother and adopted mother have just been killed but she wants to have sex with her "mate"? Disgusting. She didn't even see her sister until the last possible moment, such bullshit

The only thing I like is LITERALLY every other character (besides hale) and I do like the world. I'm hoping that the next books are going to better

2023: 3.75/5 ⭐
This was sold to me as: a properly diverse acotar novel and it pretty much delivered. Very easy to read, fun times, not too deep or profound
