**I received this book for free through the giveaway program but that in no way affects my honest review** I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as someone who is fascinated by freak disasters of all kinds it did not disappoint. Being able to read so many survivors stories was really enlightening from a factual standpoint but also from an emotional one. It was also a pretty quick read which is also nice, a book always seems to drag on if it takes me longer than a few days to finish. There are a few awkward sentences here and there but nothing that would take away from the overall quality of writing. If you're at all interested in picking this book up or at all interested in air disasters i would absolutely recommend Bracing for Impact.

I enjoyed reading this book at first but it quickly became a drag to keep reading through the repetitive stories. The overuse of certain phrases had me rolling my eyes—they noticed the overwhelming smell of aviation fuel—Oh yes they did. Also, I don't claim that the NTSB is a flawless organization, but the authors seem to have a very skeptical view of them and their findings, often purporting that the survivors stories are more accurate.

The book also skipped over the details of nearly every crash, often compressing the events down to a paragraph or less. It's written for someone with very little aeronautical knowledge, and I know that it'd teach someone like that a lot, but I found myself bored and annoyed at the use of terms like mph rather than kts. I'm not its target audience, and that's okay.
