I don't believe in kin by blood,
but I believe poems can give form to the formless,
that one can resurrect roads not taken in a line
and give it a name.

there are some really emotional poems in this collection that i cannot get out of my mind. "orlando" is one that fully made me tear up. i also fell in love with the entire second section and its sonnets turned erasures. those fucking crowns at the end! genius!

This poetry collection is meant for the woman in her late 20's to 30's that is looking to define herself as an independent body and all the turmoil that comes with that--as well as the sheer length and difficulty of that journey. While simultaneously paying homage to the relationships and experiences that push you along a path that you maybe otherwise would not have chosen. It goes into the guilt of love and the choices given freely to another. It goes into self doubt and hope. It was lovely. But I also think the main reason I enjoyed this was because it is very much in conversation with all the things I am currently feeling in my actual life.

Megan Fernandes has become one of my favorite poets. Her grasp of language, her frank intelligence, her imagination are all incredible. There are so many lines & turns of phrase in this collection that I've underlined, that I hope I never forget. Even if it was ugly, it was joy!!
