This book is not going to be for everyone. These characters do not feel like real people (though Olivia feels slightly more real than Carter). Carter especially DEFINITELY did not feel like the sort of person who was a professional athlete or someone who would make Captain past HS or University level. Some of the humor and dialogue was for sure cringe-y.

Having said all that, I had a good time with this book. I turned off my brain too all the things it was pointing out about how this is not how professional hockey or actual adulting works and just let it enjoy the cast of characters. And it was the supporting cast that made me really like this book and give it 3 stars instead of 2. I am an absolute slut for found family especially in series where I know I'll be seeing everyone again. It was long but I actually thought it needed that considering what an absolute fuckboy Carter was at the beginning. Could it have been cut down/tightened up? Absolutely.

I can't sit here and list out a bunch of 'why you should read' because it really feels like the sort of book that you're either going to enjoy or you won't and that will 100% be up to your personal taste.

It was just... a little too long for a very limited and very predictable plot.

This was such a fun book. I usually read dark romance books. Or books with a lot of drama... When the FMC and MMC came together and thought about love, I kept anxiously waiting for a break-up or for drama. After 75 percent I was so happy, until my heart broke... Those two pages were so sad to read.

The MMC is a reformed manwhore with golden retriever vibes. He also has a dirty mouth. He falls first and is 100 percent in. AND he is a hockey star!

Favourite quote

“Demanding? That’s because I am. I refuse to be without you. Absolutely refuse, because that’s the last place either of us belongs. You’re mine. My best friend and my lover, my only version of forever, and I don’t intend on ever letting you go. My only intention is to legally bind you to me for the rest of our lives.”

I've never felt this way about anyone before. Never, Ollie. I just want you to consider *** consider giving me a shot. Consider me. That's all I want, Ol. A chance with you.

Holy shit! I - I ... It's not gonna fit.
We're gonna make it fit.
Any last words?
