What an adventure! A future bride and groom invite each of their parents on a camping trip in order to bond. But the pairs of in-laws are nothing alike! Good thing they have a Guide to help them -pan activities to bring everyone closer together! But, quickly, creepy things start to appear in the form of messages and fleeting shadows of another person. But, here, it may be one of the group who is responsible. Without giving anything away, I’ll just say that things only get worse, and soon everyone is a suspect!

I am officially a HUGE Laura Wolfe fan!! This is the 3rd book of hers that I’ve read and it’s the 3rd five-star review I’ve given her!! This book was insane! I loved the characters, I loveee her writing style and now she makes you feel like you’re in the scene with the characters. And holy crap those plot twists just kept coming!!!!!!!! Highly recommend The In-Laws!

Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
An atmospheric read centreing around a family weekend away on a daring hike in the remote wilderness of a National Park with a guide....What could go wrong?  Engaged couple Abigail and Pete have decided to take their parents for a camping trip and hike so they can "get to know each other" before their nuptuals. Abigail's parents have high standards and live a luxurious life and Pete even works with Abigail's father, so they adore him!! Pete's family is your average income family with peculiarities and a past history that leaves the rest of the group unsure as to who they can trust on this trip. The first hint to leave this camping idea was a distraught couple at the Visitor's station fighting and not able to get into their vehicle quick enough. The Second hint is a creepy, lurking man... begging for food.
Then their food & medicine disappears and odd messages are left throughout the trail... Not to mention the secrets start getting exposed.
This was an edgy, twisty thriller that kept me guessing with dark disturbing characters that slowly reveal themselves, I was hooked from the start. #laurawolfe #theinlaws #netgalley #tea_sipping_bookworm #goodreads #amazonaustralia #kindle #thestorygraph #litsy #thriller #bookqueen #bookstagram

I love this revived trend of not waiting until the end of the book to have a big twist.  It catches me off guard a little more if I don’t know when to expect one.  And these days all thrillers have one or ten.  I also love locked room thrillers, and while this one isn’t that, but it is similar.  A group of people isolated from the world.

This centers around secrets.  Who has them and what are they.  The prologue clues you in that six people are looking over a bluff at a dead body.  You quickly learn there are seven on the camping excursion, but not only don’t you know who did it, but you also don’t know who has fallen.

I was a fan of the chapter teasers at the end of some of the chapters, letting you know what might happen next.  I enjoyed watching the layers peel back.  It is quick paced and I never had a moment that I wanted to put it down.

I highly recommend this one for those that love fast paced, twisty thrillers.

A remote camping trip designed to bring two families together, ahead of their children's wedding. Things don't go as smoothly as bride to be Abigail had hoped. There are strange noises in the night, strange messages at their campsites to find.
A lot of secrets, suspicion and accusations. I really enjoyed this book and the twists and turns all the way to the end. I would recommend this book and read more from this author.
Thank you netgally for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A digital ARC of this book was provided to me by NetGalley and Bookouture.  The opinions are my own and freely given.

Cast of Characters:
Abigail - fiancée of Pete
Pete - fiancé of Abigail
Kristen - Abigail's mother
John - Abigail's father
Darla - Pete's mother
Kenny - Pete's father
Liam wilderness tour guide

Told mainly from Abigail's POV with a couple of chapters from Darla and Liam's POV.

This is the story of a camping trip gone wrong, on so many levels.  With Abigail and Pete's impending nuptials, Abigail wants to get both sets of parents to like each other, so she plans this trip for a "bonding" experience.  Kristen is a physiatrist and believes in science, where Darla believes in mystic powers and reads Palms, Tarot cards and healing crystals.  The moms don't get off on the right foot.  And with 7 people on this trip, one ends up broken at the bottom of a gulch.  Fingers are pointed, tensions are high.  Was it foul play or just an accident?

I didn't see the outcome and I was surprised.  I love books where groups of people are stranded in dangerous situations, so this was right up my alley.   Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture.
