Written review
I want to start by saying if you haven't read book one you shouldn't read this review it will have spoilers from the first book.
I don't really know how to start this review because I feel like the beginning of the book is so far back now. I'm not sure if that's because the book was so long (and took me so long to read) or because the book was so good it was able to make me feel like I was moving on and growing with the characters.
At the beginning of the book Feyre is marring Tamlin. My love for Tamlin is still very strong at this point (spoiler it doesn't last much longer). Feyre has really bad PSTD from under the mountain. Feyre is woken up every night by horrible nightmares from her time under the mountain, and Tamlin never does anything; he never holds her hair back while she pukes up her guts, he never even brings it up to comfort her. This bothers me about Tamlin. Looking back now I feel like Tamlin and Feyre never had a good relationship. Tamlin was so worried about protecting Feyre from threats that he never realizes she was a threat to herself. she was slowly breaking till it reached a tipping point and she shattered.
Rhysand came to Feyre's rescue when she needed it most. He was there for Feyre, was able to fix her broken pieces that Amarantha and Tamlin had shattered. Feyre was also able to help Rhysand fix himself. Their bond unbreakable.
I grew to love Rhysand and page by page started to hate Tamlin. Hate Tamlin for what he had done/hadn't done for Feyre. At the end just like Feyre said I too couldn't stomach Tamlin. I hate him with every fiber of my being.
I thought it was nice that we got introduced to some of the other high lord (even though the circumstances might not have been the best).
I can't wait for the third book!
