I really enjoyed this book. The first book I read by Emily Henry was not as good as this one and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it. I could completely relate to the main character because she is also an author struggling with writers block. I liked the fact that she was dealing with some tough situations and how she could grow through it, while also going outside of her comfort zone with Gus. I thought this was a great and well rounded story, but I did think that the main characters could have avoided fights if it weren’t for miscommunication. I also didn’t like that she was a stereotypical woman in a romance book (e.g. over dramatic and cried all the time).

It's a good book. It is a cute story. The main character, January, she's a bit dramatic and self-centered. She's an only-child, so I guess she is a really well-written only-child. I just didn't really like her all that much.
I enjoyed the book overall. I think it does read like a "first book." I read Book Lovers and it's got a similar feel to it, but it reads better IMO.
I was invested in the story, I wanted to know what happened to January and Gus. I enjoyed the tid-bits about the books they were writing as well.
Okay ending- or maybe I just don't like happy endings... *winky face*

Relatable and complicated characters, believable romance, a bit of spice...this story has everything! Just a very sweet story where enemies become friends ultimately become lovers. What's not to love?

Have you ever re-read a book and noticed how it always hits in a different way? The way that time and experience color what you take out of a story and what its various pieces mean to you? How critical it truly is for a book to come into your life at just the right time?
I started Beach Read at just the right time. So much of this book hit home for me. Everything - from the experience of writing to finding oneself in awkward situations to desperately wanting happy endings even when they seem out of grasp - made me feel so wonderfully connected to others at a time when it's far too easy to feel alone.
Hats off to Emily Henry for this lovely book on romance, writer's block, and perfect moments.

P. S. Additional hats off for Julie Whelan's narration!

I loved this one so much more this time than the first time I read it a couple years ago. January & Gus <3 both healing and trying to be their best for themselves and each other. It was so sweet and funny and real. Emily Henry books always feel like home
