I finished this book, but can’t imagine reading the rest of the series.
This book (and the first) does some things well. I think that this is more realistic than a lot of RHs in terms of addressing communication deficits and misappropriations of time with the FMC. The plot is interesting.
But this book (and the first) does a lot of things not well. FirstRhett is a homophobic, selfish, rash POS. Every time he justifies something he says or does, it sounds so insincere. Maybe this is important for a character arc later, but I’m so confused why Lottie is even with him. Second, WHY DOES IT TAKE LOTTIE SO LONG TO BOND EVERYONE??? IF I WERE HER AND HAVING PANIC ATTACKS EVERYDAY BECAUSE I WAS SEPARATED FROM MY UNBONDED MEN, I WOULD JUST BOND THEM. THE SIMPLE SOLUTION IS TO BOND THEM. I was banging my head against the wall (metaphorically) every time it happened in the book! That was my main complaint with this one. I feel like we never even got a reason for why she didn’t just get bonded to them all at once, other than bonds making her tired. Third, this book talks about power structures in relationships a lot. But for as much as they talk about it I don’t think they do it right. Lottie is EXHAUSTED. She does everything for these packs (10,000 people?), and her guys do jackshit to help her handle the stress and her workload. I understand that— as a Luna— her wolf is dominant to theirs, but gosh darn she needs some TLC and for them to take the reins sometimes. I’m not saying they need a D/s relationship or anything, but the fact that they keep the same hierarchy super rigid in every interaction is so frustrating. It seems like they have no flexibility in their dynamics depending on the situation. Fourth, I LOVE AN EMOTIONALLY FRAGILE FMC. I LOVE WHEN THE FMC NEEDS SUPPORT FROM THE GUYS. For as many mental and emotional issues as Lottie has, the guys are awful at taking care of her. Why is her dad that she’s known for two weeks better at comforting her than the guys she’s literally bonded to? You're telling me they can read her emotions and still not have an inkling on how to help her??? It’s egregious. If there was more doting, more care, more effort put into the relationship, I absolutely would continue this series. But there’s not. So I will not be continuing.

Four stars because I rate on expectations. This book met my expectations after reading the first book. I made the choice to continue on to read this one knowing how I felt about the first one. I don’t believe in penalizing the author just because I made the choice to read this.

The timeline is still preposterous (there are only 24 hours in a day how is so many things going on?) and this one is so much more political than the first of the series.

I enjoyed the second book in this series but I think I was hoping to see Lottie come into her own a little more. She was still an amazing Luna but some of the meltdowns felt a little unnecessary. The story line is absolutely fire and if you are into shifter romances this is an absolute must! I am so excited to see what’s gonna happen next!

Waiting for book 3
I thoroughly enjoyed book 1 and book 2 of this series. I'm looking forward to the next book. The book has a strong fmc growing into her relationships with her mates, mystery and action but I really love that it makes me laugh and has an overall positive feel.
