Main character perfectly embodies that scene in Meet the Robinsons when it shows Goob walking down the hallway and everyone greets him and he says, "They all hated me." The victim mindset is annoying, but accurate for the character (she is a teenager, after all) and consistent, plus it works as a plot point, so whatever. The plot is what really pulls you through this novel, and once it takes hold I could get past the low-level cringe factor, and it was a quick read.
