This was short-ish, cute, and simply romantic. I’m glad Laura found her peace.

4.5 stars rounded up: Laura and Samir are SO sweet together! Laura is pregnant and has run away from her abusive husband. Who else is in the small beach town from her childhood but her first love, Samir? Now he's as funny as he was as a teenager, but also a dependable presence for her when she needs support the most. Samir buying baby books to understand what she's going through >>> He's so excited for her baby!

Super sweet romance (even when the ex shows up and considering all of Laura's family dynamics oof). The sex scenes are fire too! Talia Hibbert is wonderful.

TW: graphic depictions of emotional, physical, and sexual partner abuse.

After the first book I was terrified to read this. I procrastinated for so long and now I’m kicking myself. This is amazing! Probably my favorite second chance romance. There is plenty of drama, but the book still feels calm and full of love.

While I absolutely adored the book, there are many points where the plot feels incomplete. I love a good novella, but this doesn’t feel like one. While technically a novella by length this feels like an incomplete novel. I would love to see this written into more.

Soon-to-be divorcee runs away to a small seaside settlement and reunites with her first love by the beach, a sweet, burly cafe owner who’s never really gotten over her. I would’ve rated it higher except I wasn’t in the mood for it.

It was cute. Never really read a trope where the character was pregnant
Love Samir
