Loved loved loved the structure of this book and it’s pace.. like one long ekphrasis. I hope to one day be as excessive and decadent as our dear des esseintes. His take on Latin literature was very hot !

cele 4 stelute se datoreaza in intregime faptului ca sunt o style over substance girl; l-am inteles complet pe Des Esseintes cand petrecea ore pe fotoliu gandindu-se ce nuanta de caramiziu sa aleaga pentru peretii din sufragerie, cand isi aranja biblioteca si recitea aceleasi carti din nou si din nou (a avut norocul si sa fim amandoi fani Baudelaire cu un istoric de obsesie cu religia), cand incrusta testoasa cu pietre pretioase ca sa se asorteze cu covorul;
inteleg de ce Oscar Wilde si toti decadentii iubeau aceasta carte- este My year of rest and relaxation pentru aristocratic gay men in the 1800s care din pacate nu aveau acces la antidepresive sau ambien

ii urez lui Des Esseintes insanatosire grabnica si sper ca intoarcerea la Paris sa ii priasca asa cum si doctorul i-a sugerat
