I have been a fan of Debbie Macombers books ever since a friend lent me The Shop on Blossom Street when I was a sophomore in college. I also have been in the mood to reread it for a while. It was an enjoyable and cozy read while aso covering some hard topics. I loved watching the characters' develop friendships with each other and even watching how they each grow throughout the novel. However, there was one thing I did not like was that there was some fat-shaming of one of the side characters, and while that character was awful, her body was made to be the most disgusting thing about her when there are other aspects of her character that could have been the main focus as to why this character was awful. 3/5 Stars.

This was a book recommended to me. The story was really sweet and one I did like but it needed to be more of a quality read. I feel it lacked substance and was repetative at times.

It was so lovely sitting down with a cuppa reading this after reading the 2nd novel first. It gave a good backstory of event and what had happened before hand too. It was funny hearing more about the people at that first knitting group of very different people from different walks of life.

I half listened to this while working. The Audiobook has to be very old just based off production and sound quality. The story was okay. Relatable in many ways. I only picked it because my Mamaw loved this author and I knew she had read this book once upon a time.

From the start, this book delivers what it promises to be: a light story with stereotypical characters that plays out in a predictable way. I knew that going in, and it's what I was looking for with this read. The level of it, though, in the four main characters is so extreme it's almost a parody of a grocery story book.
What I didn't expect was the utter ridiculousness in the side characters. Rich, Carol's brother, turns from her hero into a sleazy ladies' man in just a few pages. Tammie Lee, the Southern fried joke of a woman, embodies the kinds of stereotypes you only hear in media portrayals of Southerners. Also, she's from Louisiana, but the distinction seems lost on the author.
Then there's Laurel. Laurel, the trouble roommate who's immediately described as "well over two hundred pounds," but still worthy of better treatment from her lover. Laurel, who's so grotesque, shoving food in her face at every turn, that the self-absorbed Alix can't see she's pregnant. The fatphobia underlining this character and flashing in glimpses throughout the rest of the text is a gross reflection of the author's stance on weight, and it is never necessary. Adding that to this flat character's murderous response to having a baby seals her as another collection of misguided tropes that make up this story.
What a disappointment.

This book isn’t going to change your life, but it’s a sweet story of several different women from different backgrounds who are brought together by their love of knitting. It was good enough that I’ll read the next one in the series.

Great book!!! This is the first book i have read from this author and I am officially hooked. You may not like each character in the beginning of the book but by the end you will fall in love with all 4...Macomber did a great job at bringing each of them to life! Can't wait to read the next one in the series! I'm going out to buy it first thing tomorrow :)
