I was so into this series about 20 years ago. It's about a LAPD Homicide Squad back in the 60s. I got so invested in all the detectives and the cases - it was like a TV cop show.
Unfortunately, it has not aged well. The attitudes may be authentic to the time it was written, but times have changed. I just couldn't stomach so !such casual racism and sexism and general prejudice. Definitely not recommended at all.

It's the first book I read by this author and won't surely be the last because I liked it.
It's an excellent and gripping story, a picture of a different age, that kept me hooked till the end.
Great characters and storytelling, a solid mystery that kept me guessing.
I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
