This book is the most difficult read I have ever come across, but that is more so due to my inexperience with the topic at hand than a failure of the book itself. Unlike me, I would recommend familarlizing yourself with the study of capitalism before turning around to this book, because it is a masterclass in economic history, rich in detail and extensive in analysis. There is no stone left unturned in this colossus.

This book makes references to the slave trade a few times when discussing chattel slavery as part of British economic dominance. The book is principally concerned with economics, so it avoids delving deep into the horrific practices of slavery, but those who may find it a distressing topic to read about should be forewarned.
