"I think falling in love with the right person was a shortcut to happiness. But maybe there are other ways to finding satisfaction and joy: carving out your own path, learning to trust your gut." - Meant To Be Mine by Hannah Orenstein

What a beautiful, illuminating story that celebrates the many forms of love. Be it familial, friendly, sisterly or romantic love, this story is brimming with the most charming representations of love that a person can experience in a lifetime.

Edie Meyer has always been blessed with the presence of her close-knit Jewish family, particularly with her eccentric grandmother Gloria. Gloria is a force of nature, an exuberant presence who is revered for being able to predict the day that each family member will meet the love of their life. And Edie has been waiting for June 24, 2022 for years.

True to prediction, this is when Edie boards an aeroplane to her twin sister Rae's surprise engagement and unsurprisingly meets a handsome and charming musician, Theo. While everything seems breezy and swoon-worthy at first, Edie can't help the nagging feeling that Theo does not seem to be the perfect guy for her. And when a loved one makes a shocking revelation, Edie starts to question her own beliefs - is love a force or nature or nurture?

Reading this book was more of a breeze, filled with whirlwinds surrounding the colourful characters. I loved Edie's creative energy, her dreamer vibes and manic pixie dream girl presence as much as I loved the practicality of those around her. I loved how the book captures the energy of a close-knit family that dwells in the magic of Gloria's predictions, yet celebrates the beauty of choosing your own love story. This is a truly heartfelt and beautiful story that celebrates the love that we choose everyday.

I am a huge believer in fate - however, the premise of this book even had me skeptical. Gloria, the matriarch of the family, has long had visions of when her family members will meet their matches, their soulmates. She has always been right to a certain extent. But this book shows that sometimes even fate is not enough to keep two people together.

I knew the chemistry between Edie and Theo was off from the start and pined for a connection with Bennett. I’m glad my pining came to fruition.

i really enjoyed all the character growth in this book - but that meant the plot really lost out. I thought how it ended was great but we barely got to see that part of the plot develop, which was such a shame - Bennett deserved more time
