loved the story but….

The ending was too abrupt with unanswered questions about Casey, Unu, jobs, marriage, and divorce. The end was a let down.

It's no Pachinko, but I still love Lee's writing style. She has a way of making me give a shit about people for 500 pages and still wish there was more. Her characters are always the best part; complex in all the right ways. I couldn't put this down!

Gorgeous, gorgeous writing and storytelling. I was completely engrossed and couldn’t put it down. What a wonderful way to spend my free time these past weeks.

I loved the complexity of the characters and their relationships, but the plot and pacing felt a bit uneven in parts. I still enjoyed reading the whole thing, though.

I enjoyed the first 300 pages or so of the book, but then it just dragged on and got a bit messy.

3.75 stars. Not as good as Pachinko, but a strong first novel. I gained interesting new perspectives and decided that I might try being a hat person. TBD on the hats. Definitely recommend the book.
