From the overt sexism to Kaplan’s insistence that Nazism started in the Balkans because Hitler may have had contact with South Slavs in Vienna’s flophouses, this is book full of poorly researched nonsense and negativity. Happy I read Misha Glenny’s book on the Balkans before this or I may have fallen for the narrative Kaplan is trying to spin.
