I’m still getting a feel for this new world, but I have to say that I’m extremely curious about it. I like what I’ve been seeing about the world itself as well as the characters involved. It’s not every day one gets to read a post-apocalyptic comic series (though I do know that they are out there, of course).
The characters in particular have really caught my attention. Thirteen is an interesting character who seems to have gone through a lot in her short life. I’m hoping they’ll expand on her story more when they have a chance, though admittedly I know enough about her to understand her motivations (which is really the most important part, right now).
The robot marionettes were a nice touch. They’re whimsical, cute, and interesting all in one.

This issue was essentially our chance to meet Minnow; to see how the whole journey to High Level begins, basically. This was a great improvement from [b:issue #1|43880750|High Level (2019-) #1|Rob Sheridan|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1549518694s/43880750.jpg|68271433] which already had so much potential. All in all, a very balanced issue with no negative aspects at all, and I just can’t wait to see more!

Things I noticed in this issue:
- Minnow is so cute!! Just look at her sad face!

- Thirteen has no tolerance for kids which honestly is a mood. It gets to the point where Minnow keeps asking questions and Thirteen gets more and more frustrated but it’s never annoying. It’s only ever humorous and almost adorable.

- I was kinda disappointed in Thirteen for
Spoilermaking Minnow feel unwanted, being excessively mean to Akan and Minnow and only helping Minnow for the money
but, you know, that’s who she is at this point in time and I think she’s going to grow as a character which I can’t wait to see.

- I like Thirteen as a character. She’s... unorthodox. She’s not really a good guy but she’s still good, if that makes sense. She’s witty, smart, has gorgeous hair (have I mentioned how much I love the hair yet??) and is a total gun-wielding, tech-making savage!
Just look at the clever word-play she uses:

- I really like Minnow as a character. There is so much potential there. And she’s an innocent. All she wants is a home and I really feel for her.

- That moment at the end of the issue when Thirteen
Spoilertrusted Minnow to take the wheel was great.
Especially when the truck went straight for the chasm and it looked like the journey was over before it had even started.

- The
Spoilerchase
scene was so thrilling!!
I didn’t think
SpoilerBarron would kill Thirteen’s friend! Barron is
a very threatening and real villain... but is he the only one??

- Who was the emissary from the Red King??? Who is the Red King?? And why would they
Spoilerleave Minnow with the Black Helix if they knew the Barron was bad?
So many questions!

- The art is so BEAUTIFUL!!

Things I’m interested in seeing:
- I want to see a real bond forming between Thirteen and Minnow. They have a long way to go to get to High Level, so they’ll have a lot of time to grow used to each other.

- I want to see more of High Level which I know is (obviously) definitely coming.

- I’m very interested in Minnow’s past and how much she really remembers of High Level. I want to know who she is and why she was left with Black Helix. How does
Spoilershe have those abilities??

See where the journey began... Check out my review for issue #1!!
