Odyssey is one of my favorites in the AC series and one of the few that I have completed multiple times so I went into this book very excited. I love the author's writing style. Forgiving a handful of grammatical errors (at least in the first edition) I found his writing style to be so captivating. I fell in love with how he described the ancient cities and how Kassandra interacted within them. Although it came with one major downside. The violence was turned up high.
This retelling is so much more violent than the game. There are multiple torture scenes that are unyeilding in their descriptions of pain and suffering. While the game is almost entirely about murder, the torture in this book was so much more intense and horrific.
This is a massive game summarized in a short book. I went in with the understanding that not every plot point could be hit in less than 400 pages yet still came out a bit underwhelmed. The ending was quite rushed and moved along so much faster than everything before. An enjoyable read while I was sucked into the atmosphere, but I'm glad to move on from this book.
