So, i received a copy of this book from Netgalley. I think this was one of those ït's not you, it's me"situations. I found it very confusing. The action sequences were all over the place for me, and i just couldn't picture them very clearly. I liked the characters, but couldn't relate, i guess.

I don’t even know what to say about this book. It was not what I expected, and not what I would have normally chosen to read. It’s like a mix of all the annoying things about YA (teenagers!) and the paranormal slightly sleazy aspects of urban fantasy/paranormal romance novels. I found all of the characters beyond annoying. The main characters, are children playing in an adult world. The sister specifically was callous toward everything and completely self-absorbed. She went from killing a bunch of vampires (and that is the gist; they go around hunting the supernatural) with no real care in the world, but then she is overwhelmed with sympathy for a fairy who is turning people to stone at a prom.
I am not interested in further reading this story, and I doubt I will read anything else in this series.
I received this novel from Netgalley and the Publishers for free in exchange for an honest review.

I found this book both intriguing and frustrating. I think the world and the characters are interesting enough that I'd like to know more, but I wish there was a little more explanation early on so I wouldn't have spent so much of this book feeling a bit lost and confused. A good copyeditor would also help, because there were quite a few grammatical problems. There are also some cultural issues for those of us who aren't from the UK and lack familiarity with Scottish products and expressions.

However, I liked the twisty plot and was sufficiently interested in the story to keep reading. The relationship between the twins felt realistic, and I liked that they both had a balance of strengths and flaws. I'd like to read the next book in the series to see if my impression changes, and I have to admit, despite my occasional confusion and frustration, I really do want to know what happens next, which I think is really the most important quality of any story.
