It's been a while since I read the trilogy, so I think I forgot some of the finer details of... stuff, but this was such a pleasure to read. I loved the narrator's voice -- it was charming and a bit silly but thoroughly delightful. Plus, there were some really cool story moments. All in all, really good stuff.

I was so excited to return to this world but found the story a bit slow and had difficulty staying interested. I’m shocked I would ever give Queen Jemisin a 3 in anything… it’s always been 5s…. But I just didn’t really enjoy this one very much.

Goodness I loved this. A much much better conclusion to this trilogy than "The Kingdom of Gods". I loved watching (reading?) Shill's voice develop and mature across the novella and the conclusion made me positively beam.

This book is an interesting exploration in gender and how socially/culturally constructed gender roles are.
The narrative voice is quite unique.
