Did I love this book as a kid. The answer is yes, I really, really loved this book. Almost (A long time -ok), I fell in love with this story. While I was never into princess and princess, I was always into adventure. This book takes a wonderful twist on the classic story of Rapunzel. The character is painted to be this amazing, resilient, strong woman that is better befitting of a princess. Oh the and illustrations, I still remember the gorgeous colors and expert lines. I remember staring at the details of every frame and wondering how the artist is able to do something so beautiful with a pencil and a pen. As I would later learn, it took a lot more than a pencil and a pen. I do recommend this book to those little souls with big beautiful eyes. And the old souls with the not so perfect vision.

A really hilarious & wholesome cross over between 2 classic stories: Jack & the beanstalk and Rapunzel. It may be the soft touch of a feminist, but I liked the fact the main female character wasn't this poor little lady in needing of salvation from a strong & noble prince. She just whooped everyone's bum with nothing else than a big amount of reckless courage & her hair. Never underestimade what a good haircare routine can do! It can just save your life sometimes, or a few more along the way. And even after she lost her "super powers" she was still kicking it very damn well. A good fighter doesn't stand in the skills you got or in the fancy weapons you carry. Sometimes you just got to improvise in dirty fights against an evil step mother.
Moreover, the cowboy theme was very original and enjoyable to see. Usually cowboys are just overrated, but this idea was genuine. Who would have thought Rapunzel would be a cowgirl riding horses & making a lasso out of her braids? Genius idea! Much appreciated is also the fact that they just didn't "fall in love at first sight".
In contrast to Rapunzel's bold masculine side, Jack's soft feminity was a breath of fresh air from any kind of Disney/tale like toxic masculinity male character. Clap clap clap for this book.
On my way to reading volume 2 now, yeehaw!

"Rapunzel's Revenge" by Shannon and Dean Hale is a wild-west retelling of the classic Rapunzel story. This book reads like a movie, is action-packed, and hilarious. Rapunzel is everything you could want in a heroine, fierce and brave and unafraid to speak out against oppressors (even when its your mother). This version includes wild rides through canyons, evil magic used to control others, and a desperate desire to set the world right again. Jack, the swashbuckling rouge, and Rapunzel make the perfect duo to guide you through their wild, magical, long-haired adventures.

I had no idea this was a graphic novel. I saw that Shannon Hale had something out that I hadn't read so I ordered it through inter-library loan. I have read some graphic novels, but don't usually choose them so I was pleasantly surprised when the story captured my imagination and made me laugh, smile, and cringe.

Great female lead character and Hale gave this fairy tale a pretty strong twist.

I've never read a graphic novel before but I really enjoyed this one. Rapunzel was so kick butt and Jack was hilarious. It reminded me a bit like Tangled. I love that they made her an outlaw vigilante who can braid whip. This was so funny and entertaining to read.

Beautiful artwork! The artist, Nathan Hale, is really talented. This is the first graphic novel I have ever read. Although it was fun to read, I think I prefer normal novels. It was a bit awkward to follow the story mostly in pictures. It was a cute story, although it seemed to drag a little bit long. I will read the sequel because I did really enjoy the artist's work.

Entertaining. My kids breezed right through it. It was a different kind of read in graphic novel format which is not my favorite, but my son really took to it. Great read for kids, ages 8-12.

I distinctly remember reading this book a million times as an 11-year-old. My copy is SO worn down. Honestly, probably partly why I'm super into Tangled now; this book sprouted the beginning of my love of Rapunzel.

I picked this up after Shannon Hale did a panel discussion/book signing for the library. This was fun to read, and even my 5 yo nephews enjoyed looking at it.
