Really liked this! I wish the conflict with Annie was a little more fleshed out and I also wish the protagonist was a little less whiny about 2/3 of the way through. But otherwise, the sexy and fun!

frustratingly vague, muddled sexual politics, honestly confused at the constant daggers pointed at the assumption of imbalance of power just because protag happened to be a sub? sometimes you’re bi and you like an old man and that’s okay. maybe all writers are just insufferable

I didn’t want this to end, which is always the sign of a good book. I’m still chewing on the theme of this one, and the ending leaves space for contemplation on relationships and the ways we navigate independence and autonomy when partnered.

entirely underwhelming. for a novel that focuses entirely on themes that are charged with feeling (love, sex, art, friendship, identity, etc.), it felt stunningly devoid of real emotion. the premise is fascinating and the prose is lovely, though; with more examining of the main character's interiority and fleshing out of the love interest, it could have been something special.
