There was also the fact that before the attack, their entire relationship crumbled because of a misunderstanding and Clem just leaving, and despite the fact that Ed supposedly wanted to marry her, he ... never tried to pursue her again to fix it? And instead goes on to date other women a week after their break-up? True love, indeed.
There was a mystery about who exactly attacked Clem - and continued to harass her throughout the story -, except calling it a mystery is quite generous; it was obvious from very early on. Like, as soon as the attacker appeared for the first time, I had a hunch. And that was quite infuriating, since you don't find out what actually happened until literally the last chapter. The climax was also extremely anticlimactic and more tell than show.
Plus, in the last chapter, Scott suddenly randomly jumps a few times into the future, which I found really annoying.
What I did like were that some of the scenes were pretty funny sometimes. There was a dog who made a few scenes really entertaining. And I sometimes also liked Ed's brother Leif. It wasn't the worst romance book I ever read, but it definitely also wasn't the best. It took me way too long to finish this, considering it's not actually that long.
