A light, fun book. Most of the stories made me laugh, a few out loud. I found much of the book to be very relatable, especially the chapter on buying boots...too perfect. Overall, the stories were hit and miss with regard to humor, but overall enjoyable.

i really wanted to like this book a lot. i remember liking the one where she got married. i enjoy books in this style, short, blog-like funny essay chapters. But the little stories in this book were kind of hit or miss, and too many were miss. there definitely were some funny stories, but they were too few and far between. one reviewer on here commented she didn't like all the hate on skinny girls, i didn't find it as bad as i see in everyday life, so that didn't bother me, or maybe i've acquired a thick skin, but what was annoying was her own hate of being 'fat' she goes on and on about how super fat she is for size 14 and honestly, as a skinny girl myself, i don't see size 14 as particularly fat, i know it's the national average nowadays for women, so it annoys me to hear someone gripe on it forever. the ymca story it was ok and pertinent but not as her main topic all the time. i do think i might like her in person, i like dorky people, but she's nowhere near the dorkiest girl alive...most people i know are at least as dorky as her, if not more. I just feel like Laurie is a funny woman with a nice husband who at this moment wrote some not so funny stories. ill probably give her another chance on another book but this one was just meh.

Liked it and didn't like it. Some parts were quite funny and I found myself laughing at loud quite a few times near the beginning of the book. But then that ended and it lost something. The numerous pop culture references were amusing, but would have been much funnier if I had read them closer to the publication date. Which means the more time that goes by, the more the book loses a big part of it. There were definitely parts that I, or any woman, could relate to; but there's nothing really memorable about this book. I'd give it two-and-a-half stars, rounded up to three because it made me laugh in the beginning.

Laurie Notaro cracks me up. Seriously, the girl is just funny and is again in this collection. OK, some of her stories hit home with me better than others, but all are quality. I particularly enjoy her exploits with online medical sites and stories on her relationship with her family. She tends to not have an edit button between her thoughts and her mouth, which gets her into trouble and also makes for some interesting tales.

I love this woman's writing. She's honest and not afraid to embarrass herself.

Another funny one from Laurie Notaro! I find myself liking her personal stories better than her fiction, but only slightly. Any book that can make me guffaw out loud and exclaim "I've totally done that!" is tops on my list. :)
