As long as you're okay with familiar romance tropes and privileged people not recognizing their own privilege, this is a decent little two-in-one love story, heavier on the sex scenes than what I'm used to with Kleypas, though she tends to be generous in that regard.

A little heavy handed with the melodrama of two adults who refuse to tell one other important information for really no discernible reason, but not in a fashion atypical of the genre. There were noticeable typos in the digital copy I read, which I've noticed before with Kleypas books.

I started reading LK after watching S2 of Bridgerton last month. Having read all of the Bridgerton books I was after some Regency Romance and had heard good things about this author online.

I started with ‘The Gamblers of Craven’ Series which I enjoyed and am really glad I did because one of the characters in that is the father of one of the Wallflowers.

I ADORED The Wallflower Series!

meh--it was ok, but the idea of scars keeping a couple apart for so long did not ring true for me.

I liked that this book was not the predictable boy-meets-girl-boy-loses-girl-boy-gets-girl formula but there is a subplot that implies that love can cure alcoholism and I think that is problematic.

Still love these characters so, so much. Truly one of the best HR books I've ever read even after a reread

Is this... my new favorite historical romance??? 💕

I am notoriously picky about my historical romances. As much as I love period piece romance movies/shows, it's a lot harder for me to like those stories in book form for some reason. But this? It was spicy. It was tension-packed. It was Persuasion meets Pride & Prejudice. It was second chance romance between soulmates. I mean, there were two different romances in one book for crying out loud! (The main one, and the FMC's sister had a romance subplot as well. Loved both.)

The Wallflowers series is something of a classic in the historical romance space, and for good reason, apparently! I devoured this. I listened to the entire audiobook in a single setting after work one evening and had a great time. There was way more spice than I was expecting, and it just made the experience that much better! I loved the healthy boundaries surrounding alcoholism in this book. Too, the tension between the two MCs? The HISTORY? Delectable.

Perhaps the best book I've ever picked up by chance at a secondhand sale.

🌶🌶.5 or 🌶🌶🌶 (kinda hard to rate because the descriptions are different, but just trust me, it's spicier than most historical romances)
