Nearly every page made me laugh and it was such a pleasant and interesting read - I finished the book within a couple of days. The ending, however, was heartbreaking and made me appreciate the NHS workers much more. Recommend!

A must read ! Under an humorous tone actually delivers a really important message. Even though I'm not a UK resident, I was still able to relate a lot to what he was saying. The situation in France is pretty similar.

My coworker was a nurse for 8 years before changing profession because she couldn't go on with it anymore. It is both physically and mentally exhausting. The workload is huge as well as the hours making it extremely difficulty to maintain a social life, there are lots of responsibilities generating lot of stress, the staff is clearly far from enough and to top it off, the paid is not even good. In France, nurses' activity duration is around 7/8 years. I think that this fact alone show that there is something wrong with the actual health system. Even though I am well aware of the situation, these diaries were still it is a good reminder.

I've seen some comments saying A. Kay wasn't a good doctor or wasn't made for this job. I think that people saying that just missed the whole point of this diaries. You could be the best doctor in the world, when it involves life and death no one is spared, there is always a risk.

I have a profound respect for not only doctors but for the whole medical staff. I'm so thankful for what they do everyday for the population.

This is a diary of the doctor’s professional life and just how hard it is and how dedicated he is and includes a lot of crazy patient stories. It’s interesting and amazing and sad.
