It was hard on how many stars to give because I liked it, but then I wanted to hate it, or I should say dislike it. But as I got closer I started to like it and when I noticed I had 85% left I was like good, I have more story to read, but then it just ended. No warning. Just THE END. Now I have to go and get the 2nd one

This story follows the characters Amy and Liam. Amy is HIV positive, so her father is very protective of her and she doesn't get to leave her house often. She does school online, which her father pushes her to do her best because he only went to school until 8th grade. He is a chef at a local boarding school, where he took Amy to see a play when she was younger. Since then, it has been Amy's dream to become an actress, so she sneaks out to the school and attends classes there. One day, her father was sick, so she went to work for him. On her break, she stumbled into an audition for a scholarship to the academy. She preformed a couple lines from Beauty and the Beast in front of a panel, which Liam, the headmaster of the school, was on. The book is basically a love story between Amy and Liam, and how Amy is trying to achieve her dreams with Liam's help.

I enjoyed the story-line of the book. I thought it was very interesting and could potentially be a great story. However, I thought the story was portrayed in a truly awful way. A lot of the story was very confusing on when the event actually took place. I was not sure if it was a flashback or if it was currently happening. The whole book seemed to be sped up, making it hard to really connect with the characters and understand why they were feeling the way they were. I feel as if the story was longer, or the author did a better job explaining the story, it would have been better. I liked the fact that there were multiple point of views, however, I felt most of the book was in Amy's perspective, and it would have been nice if Liam's point of view was more frequent. One of my favorite characters in this book was Porsche, who, like Amy, is HIV positive. She is a dancer and best friends with Liam. She seemed like the most realistic character in the story, and I honestly loved everything about her.
SpoilerI am honestly sad that she died the way she did.

Overall, I was a disappointed with this book. I am a fan of Bella Forrest's Shade of Vampire series, which is why I wanted to read this book. I might have been expecting more from this book because I know what her other books in the Shade of Vampire series are like, which might be the reason that I was disappointed in this book. Ultimately, I think this book has great potential, but it just did captivate me like I thought it would.

"I think there are many cases of love in the world," I said. "But I don't think love is true until it's returned."

This book felt rushed. Too much going on without all the details. I'm hoping that the next book, Bella will take her time writing it.

not written the most eloquently, however... the story itself is interesting. its a different take on vampires and also a different lead female. there were a few small issues for me, just how quickly things moved with the relationship, but really aside from that it was a pretty good read.

Amy isn't your typical lead, she's HIV positive, which isn't exactly a turn on for the heart throb Liam, it gets interesting from there. :)

Not too crazy about it, but I heard so many rave reviews that I'm going to continue reading book 2 in hopes that it gets better.

I was really excited about this after reading the description but the book just didn't hit it's mark. It felt a bit convoluted, I can't not grasp ahold of the antagonists reasoning. Maybe book two will make it more clear but I don't know if I have it in me to find out.
