A very fun story that strikes the right balance between horror and comedy. Even though the plot was absurd, the characters felt extremely realistic which grounded the ridiculousness around them.
Graphic: Body horror and Gore
Moderate: Drug use, Suicidal thoughts, and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Pedophilia

The resolution of this book is SO GOOD. I absolutely loved it. All the way through is the typical David Wong gross, funny horror, featuring parasitic slug babies that can pretend to be the most important person in your life (after rewriting your brain to make that person up). And then, it ends in a loving, mature way. So… very unlike the rest of the series.
Graphic: Gore, Violence, and Murder

First read: Not my favorite John Dies book, but still pretty hilarious. I definitely enjoyed it and will read it many more times, I think. David Wong is an amazing author and he is really good at hitting that sweet spot of comedy horror I love.
Second read: I think I liked it a lot better the second time around. It's aged a bit better than the first two, though.
