Hara Isari is a young sports reporter from Oregon who is determined not to let her father's reputation hold her back from her dreams. When she wins a writing contest whose prize is an exclusive interview with a notoriously press-averse basketball star, she thinks she has just gotten her first big break. Whisked into the world of professional athletes and WAGs, locker rooms and afterparties, Hara soon realizes that there is something darker going on behind the scenes of Boston's favorite basketball team. She is determined to dig up the secret, but she also can't seem to escape the handsome but rude Derek Darcy.

If you're looking for a true retelling of Austen's classic, this isn't it. When they say "lightly inspired" they mean lightly. Beyond the "bad first impression to dislike to realization their impressions were wrong to love" premise of the main relationship and a few names, there isn't much recognizable from Austen.
Seriously, I was so confused by Charles' character because I expected him to be like Charles Bingley and he's....not. Also, I really was not expecting the dark turns this book took.
If you're looking for a fun, slightly mysterious romance with a side of sports, this is the book for you!

Happy ending meter:
Happy, overall, but with a dark undertone. Definitely check the trigger warnings for this book, because even though nothing was super graphic, I went into this expecting Jane Austen and was surprised by the darker scenes.
