4.9 stars. It would have been 5 because I didn't care for the term "Narcissists cannot love" a part of me disagrees. Even if it's conditional which is what I feel they are only capable of, it's still love, though toxic. Anyway, I just found out that I am in love with a Narcissist, a raging narcissist and I'm finding out 20 years too late. I loved the way this book was written and a very easy read. I do joy annotate books, ever, but I plan to at least reread it and tab most of the pages. This is my first book on this condition and it certainly won't be the last. I like books like this that are over 175 pages. Every part of this book was necessary and not really redundant. Well done Dr. Julie Hall

This is the third book I have read to date on narcissistic abuse and it is the most in-depth. Hall writes with a lot of clarity and insight that will definitely leave you feeling as if you have read a book describing your own life and the steps you need to move forward. Areas that were touched upon which I hadn't come across before were aging narcissistic parents and well developed understandings of family roles with a narcissistic parent beyond the golden child and the scapegoat. Would recommend this book to anyone who thinks they may have encountered a narcissistic in a way to move forward in their knowledge and healing.

This book is genuinely so helpful and has been more validating than my current therapist
