The twist was better than I was expecting, but only slightly. I picked up this book because I have a very close friendship with my mom and I’m definitely glad I read this while she’s still alive otherwise it would have wrecked me emotionally. I didn’t love the characters as much as I wanted to, but I feel neutral/neutral+ with how it ended.

This was a very interesting take on finding yourself after loss. I loved that Katy got that surprising trip with her mom still and got to know her in a different way. Learning from her mother during a time she didn't know her was really heartwarming.

I have to admit that the main reason I wanted to read this book was, because I was craving some Mediterranean vibes first and because the premise hooked me second. And that's kind of what's my review is. The vibes were immaculate, the premise was frankly confusing. The fact that the main character who's name I have already forgotten
Spoilercheats on her husband and blames it on the country? or at least justifies it through the country
bugged me so much. But the way the author describes Italy, the culture, the cusine - a lot of the cusine - makes me want to go back so much! But the main character was frankly annoying and selfish but maybe that was the point? Also, very much an unhealthy relationship with the mother

The food was the best part! The world the author describes is magical and beautiful and it feels real the whole way through. The characters and the plot on the other hand, were lacklustre.  This was solidly average, easy reading.
