Love returning to Highland, Georgia - the small town obsessed with bringing the flavor of Scotland to the US. Claire is from Scotland but is avoiding her past - helping take care of Ms Meadows and putting off thinking about a major decision she needs to make about her future. She’s content to avoid all people and only venture into town when they need groceries. But when she meets their neighbor Holt - it’s hard to not fall for his charm.

I loved getting back to the town and characters I’ve grown to love in this series - it was great to see Iain and Anna from the last book. I also loved the glimpse of Christmas in Highland. This wasn’t my favorite in the series but that’s my own preference - I don’t love when the conflict in a romance comes from one person keeping a major secret from the other.

I hope there will be more Highland books - if so I’ll certainly be back for more! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance reading copy!

This is a 'sweet' romance, though it isn't all sugar. ;) There are some sexier moments. Holt, the Hero, is a down to earth nice guy. He is patient with Claire, the Heroine. She shows her that there are nice guys in the world, and that not everyone has ulterior motives. Claire is slow at giving away her trust, though not really because she was in some bad relationship (which is usually the case in romances,) but because of her upbringing. While his characters is upbeat and tends to be optimistic, her's is quite the opposite. She is more reserved and has many doubts. She is more melancholy and that is the general feel of the book. There are no evil villains at play (though I guess her 'secrets' may be considered the evil villains, as they are what could break the relationship.) No major drama, though there is a break-up and make-up scene. As I mentioned, there are a lot of sweet moments, some more on the steamy side, and several laughs throughout. (Mostly within their bantering.) It is primarily taken from Her POV, but if I remember correctly, there are one or two scenes that are taken from His. It is a relatively easy and quick read. It's a lovely story with plenty going on to keep things interesting. While there is some sexual content, I believe this would be safe for readers 16 and up.

*I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley.

4.5 stars.

A Highlander Is Coming to Town by Laura Trentham is a light-hearted, fun romance. Although this newest release is the third novel in the Highland, Georgia series, it can be read as a stand-alone.

Claire Smythe left her band after they appeared at Highland's summer festival. She has been avoiding her family and upcoming business responsibilities in Scotland for years.  But with her fast approaching birthday, Claire will have to return to take on the duties awaiting her.  She is currently working as a live-in companion for the tough but kind-hearted Ms. Meadows.  Claire has worked hard to fly under the radar since she does not want to answer any questions about herself. But after meeting Ms. Meadows' sexy and flirtatious neighbor, Holt Pierson, Claire finds it difficult to stay away from him.

Holt is quite intrigued by Claire but he respects her wishes not to talk about herself. He cannot help but try to lend her a hand since she seems to keep running into transportation issues. He must first get past the formidable (to him) Ms. Meadows, but she soon warms up to him.  Holt is surprised by how interested he is in Claire, but he knows there is no future for them since she plans on leaving town.

Holt and Claire are a wonderful couple who are a surprisingly good fit. Claire is reserved and remains tight-lipped about herself. Holt is laid-back and understanding of her need for privacy. Once their attraction burns too bright to resist, they originally agree  to a casual fling.  And even if they do fall in love, Claire cannot remain in Highland. Can she?

A Highlander Is Coming to Town is a very charming romance with marvelous characters and an interesting storyline. Holt and Claire are an appealing couple and their scenes together are sweet and a little steamy. Ms. Meadows is a wonderful woman who does not realize how much she needs Claire in her life. With a minor conflict jeopardizing Claire and Holt's future together, Laura Trentham brings this heartwarming romance to a heartfelt and uplifting conclusion. An outstanding addition to the Highland, Georgia series that old and new fans are going to love.

A Highlander is Coming to Town by Laura Trentham is the third in the Highland, Georgia series. Being the first I have read, I was concerned about coming in 'late to the party', but there was no reason because there was plenty of information for me to enjoy the book and not feel like I missed anything. One thing I feel is a bit funny is that by looking at the cover, I assumed the Highlander coming to town was a man, but in reality, it was the woman in the story. Not a big deal or anything, I simply kept thinking a Highlander man would be showing up. This is the story of Holt Pierson of Highland, Georgia and Claire Smythe, the Scottish Highlander. These two are very different types of people, but mesh quite nicely together in this light and fun Christmas romance. Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for my copy of this book, all opinions stated are my own.

A Highlander is Coming to Town is only my second Laura Trentham book, and whilst I didn't quite love it as much as An Everyday Hero, I did enjoy it.

As it was a complete change of pace, with a story that was sweet, lighthearted, and easy to read; and I really liked the speed at which the story unfolded. Not to mention, there is plenty of wonderful character development, and a very pleasing small town setting.

Yet, if I'm honest I didn't quite connect with the heroine of this story Claire or the romance between her and Holt. But I thought Holt was great, and he and the lovely Ms Meadows really helped keep this story going, and for the couple of hours or so, it took to read, I was truly engaged.

A good Christmas time story about friendship, relationships and romance. Claire is a lead Scottish singer who is hiding in Highland, Georgia trying to find out what to do with her life. She meets her neighbour Holt a hometown guy, learns to trust, love, gets to make friends. It is a sweet read.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the eARC

A lighthearted small town romance is just what the doctor ordered, and when you add in just a bit of holiday, it's even better. A Highlander is Coming to Town is part of a series, but it can totally be read as a standalone. Holt is the shining star of this book. He's sweet and pretty easy going. Claire, on the other hand, drove me a little crazy. She's hard to warm up to in the beginning, and I really just wanted to shake the daylights out of her, but I did eventually turn around and started rooting for this couple. The story is pretty lighthearted, and it's a fun, easy read, and once I warmed up to Claire, I could see how good the chemistry between the characters really is. I'm new to this author and this series, but I'll certainly be checking out more of both.

Thank you to St. Martin’s and NetGalley for the advance reader copy of A Highlander is Coming to Town, part of the Highland, Georgia series which releases September 29th!

I was approached by St. Martin’s via NetGalley to read and review this Christmas themed story. I opted into the opportunity because who does not love Scots and Christmas, at any time of the year.

In the third installment of the Highland, Georgia series, Christmas has come to town. Claire is hiding out in Highland, Georgia. She's just quit her band and got a job helping out an elderly lady. But she's going by an alias and she's scared someone will figure out who she really is. Meanwhile, her neighbor Holt is instantly smitten and since he's alone at Christmas, he's feeling pretty lonely.

I enjoyed this one. It was cute and light and definitely helped take my mind off things. I didn't get why Claire was so skittish to sing with the local band. She'd been touring with a band for years, but suddenly she's afraid of people filming her now?

Another romantic comedy hit my queue! I already read the first two books in this series, A Highlander Walks Into a Bar and A Highlander in a Pickup, so I knew I was in for a treat with this third book in the Highland, Georgia series. In this addition to the series, Holt Pierson is pretty much a Scrooge. Not happy about the holiday in the least, as well as taking on sudden responsibilities is not his idea of fun.

Meanwhile, Claire Smythe is taking a break from her singing career to hide out in Highland, Georgia. In the first two books, we had sexy Scottish men in kilts. In this book, we have a beautiful and vivacious singer who is about to turn the life of one of Georgia's own upside down, Holt Pierson.

Holt and Claire could not be more different. Claire starts off as shy and reserved, but she soon becomes brash and playful. Meanwhile, Holt is gruff and stern, although loving and caring for the people in his life. But, as the saying goes, opposites attract, and that couldn't be more true for these two. Sparks fly, ignite and turn into a full flame.

All the while, Claire and Holt do indeed make the perfect couple, and I enjoyed how this book was written so that we, as readers, could see the groundwork of a happily ever after come to these wonderful and deserving people.

Before I read the three books in this series, Laura Trentham was a new name for me. I loved reading her books and enjoyed her writing style, the characters, conflicts and conclusions of each book. I do hope there is more in this series. If not, I look forward to perusing her backlist so that I can continue to be entertained by her.

Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
