I liked the ending, but I was not really a big fan of the buildup to the ending. It felt like a different person wrote the ending and the beginning. And I really wished the writing would have been consistent throughout the book.

This book started off great but the writing and characterizations got noticeably obnoxious towards the end, just unnecessarily convoluted and self important. The mystery and procedural were very intriguing and unpredictable. I'll keep reading, but I have complaints.

The romance between Alice and Cap was so BIZARRE! So unnecessary! And Cap's constant urge to smell women was creepy and weird.... I want to see more of them as a duo but not romantically. That was WEIRD!

Really depressing depiction of contemporary USA, very dark in content. Great premise for a thriller but plot and characters pretty farfetched and somewhere along the way it stretched my credulity too far and became a bit ridiculous.
