I love classic folktales, and this was a wonderful collection. I liked how it was divided into sections based on the themes: transformation, wit, and journeys, which tend to be common in folktales (and are one of the reasons I love them so much!). One of the best things about folk tales is the rhythm and repetition, and I especially loved how the stories were told almost as if they were being spoken instead of written, invoking the oral traditions of storytelling.
Minor: Animal death, Death, Blood, Kidnapping, Death of parent, and Abandonment
