Maybe it's just recency bias, but I find these characters more complex and compelling than most of the rest of Riordan's work. Or maybe it's just because in this one they go to the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Either way, the art felt a little more fitting in this one as well, other than Percy's stupid hair.

fun! and I like the artistic style, but there are a few points in here. I felt like maybe the original book had more explanation than what the graphic novel provided.

The Son of Neptune works really well as a graphic novel. I checked the rating I gave the original novel and it was actually ever so slightly lower (4.25 stars). The different format just really worked for me and I enjoyed the art.
The adaptation isn't flawless, there were a couple of times where events or dialogue lacked context given in Riordan's novel which would unfortunately put a reader experiencing the story for the first time through the graphic novel at a disadvantage. I don't think it's a major issue though and hopefully a new reader would still very much enjoy the story.
