It's hard to follow the author in the setting. What time frame, which character, etc?

This book is extremely well-written, Louise Penny is a master of building tension, even from the first pages. However, this is not a ‘cozy’ mystery book. There are obviously heavy themes of violence, especially against women and children. The sexist nature of the crimes in the book were too much for me to read so I won’t be finishing it.

My only disappointment with this book is that I must wait for her to publish the next one.

Wow. Seriously I don’t know how she [Louise Penny] does it. 😭🤯

I felt emotional and physical distress while reading this, but in the best way possible.

I hate spoilers so I feel I can’t say much without giving anything away, but I highly recommend this series if you enjoy murder mysteries with a twist. (But you must read them in order to get the full emotional
effect.) Louise Penny is what actually really got me back into reading again back in 2020 and I’m so thankful for these books. 🥰

I feel like I must mention the content warnings because these books definitely deal with some heavier topics (besides just murder).
