Building on the intricate world of the first book, The Fallen dives back into the chaotic world of humans driven to inhumanity by the nature of their self-imposed captivity. The tension and wonder of the first book remains, and I was once again chilled and captivated by the deeply human protagonists doing their best to try to do what is "right" according to their own morals, motivations, and desires. What does the "right" thing mean when reality itself has lost meaning? Science fiction at its finest.

It was fine, but there was a lot of Deus ex Machina tech with real hand-wavy explanations. The characters were neurodiverse, which was cool, but didn’t really progress or become more than their main defining trait

I enjoyed this book immensely! It built up to its inevitable end perfectly. Each character has their own unique reactions to their terrible predicament. I am so into Tiv and Yasira!
It made me so happy to see on the page that Prophet didn’t see a single future where they were apart. In a twisted way, perhaps there is no possibility of a future if they were to lose the other.
I also enjoyed Elu’s character development. I want to read the next book but my library doesn’t have it.. I may have to buy it!
