I have no prior knowledge of Atalanta or Greek mythology.

I absolutely love Ariadne by Jennifer Saint, Electra was alright but I absolutely enjoyed Atalanta.

I believe I’m now a sucker for Greek mythology having enjoyed Madeline Miller and now Jennifer Saint. Please recommend me any others you think I should read!

I was enthralled in the forest of Atalanta’s world. I enjoyed the writing, the way Atalanta thinks and while I was a bit confused with the Aphrodite trance towards the end - I did enjoy the ending.

atalanta is my favorite greek hero, so my hopes for this book were very high. it was a solid 4 stars for me until the argonauts returned from their quest. after that, the book felt rushed and at times very predictable, while also lacking depth. it felt like the same effort wasn't given to the writing, honestly :/

Atalanta was born to a goddess and dumped in the woods. She is quickly discovered by a bear and watched over by the Goddess Artemis. Artemis has a group of young lovers and keeps all men away from her women. When she needs a mission completed she sends Atalanta. She must complete the mission for Artemis. If Atalanta comes back unsullied she can join the women forever.

Atalanta is strong and smart. She fights with all her might to do the right thing and win the prize for her goddess. Atalanta never imagines what life can be like outside of the forest and she never imaged what men could be like.

The book weaves a beautiful story about life, love and a womans strength above all.

My favorite of her books to date. Though I didn’t love the ending, it definitely could’ve been a worse one, given the subject matter.
