The story was better than in the second novel but sadly, it wasn´t as funny as book one either. Actually, I can only remember one time in the whole book I really had to laugh... I don´t know if I maybe got a little too old for this genre, but somehow I found the characters to be very juvenile and simple. I still would recommend reading [b:My Lady Jane|22840421|My Lady Jane (The Lady Janies, #1)|Cynthia Hand|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1444923765l/22840421._SY75_.jpg|42397220] but the sequels are not a must-read. Although you can still spend an enjoyable day with them if you want something light and fun.

It’s a solid YA read, and I’ve really enjoyed the historical-ish fiction aspect of this series.
Moderate: Gun violence
Minor: Child abuse, Alcohol, Grief, Injury/Injury detail, Murder, Abandonment, Death of parent, Torture, and Violence

this is what I'm walking about!
Makes me want to start reading westerns but I know that no story will be as good as Calamity Jane and Annie Oakley hunting werewolves while dealing with mommy issues.
I like these books because they're so extremely sarcastic that I had to pause it several times to be like "did they just say that?" A good way to get me cackling. Not as good as the first one, tbh, but a close second.

The books in The Lady Janies series have been the perfect happy reads for me when I needed something lighthearted, and My Calamity Jane fit right in with the rest.
Even though I didn't find this one as hilarious as I did previous installments (for me, the humor declines a little with each book), it was an entertaining read, and that's pretty much all I ask of these books.
If you want something pleasant to pass the time with, you should definitely check out this series!

This was pretty fun, but I didn't get nearly as into it as I was into the other two books. I'm not typically a huge fan of westerns and don't have much interest in Wild Bill/Annie Oakley/etc., so that probably didn't help. I'd still read more by these authors, though.
