The second book in the Wings of Fire series. This time, follow Tsunami and the dragonets into the SeaWing kingdom.

Actual rating - 3.5 stars

With the world and the dragons established in Book 1, [b:The Dragonet Prophecy|13228487|The Dragonet Prophecy (Wings of Fire, #1)|Tui T. Sutherland|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1339198070l/13228487._SY75_.jpg|18420539], this book can focus on telling a more coherent story. Here we follow Tsunami as she and her friends journey to the SeaWing Kingdom.

This is less violent than Book 1, which also helped, as I was not confused at the tone of the book and what it was trying to do. This has a bit more humour and a better use of the fish-out-water trope with Tsunami. We got to spend time with the SeaWings which was quite a lot of fun. The SeaWings had their own distinct culture and the contrast from Book 1 was quite fun.

The general mystery was good and the cherry on top was baby dragons. Baby dragons - 3.5 stars for that alone. I wish we had a little more baby dragons but ah well ….

Side note: I will say that the series isn’t as cute as I would have thought - I am wondering if the graphic novel works better. Must check that out soon(ish).

Nov 2020: so of course I went and bought the box set during Black Friday ... dragons, books, cuteness ... take my money already

I wasn't quite as taken in with this one, but still a fantastic story and if I was 10 I'm sure my rating would be much higher. Won't translate for all adults, but likely to be a hit with those who enjoy children's literature.
