Spicy 🌢🌢 (and I will never say no to Jakobi Diem's voice) but the pacing of the plot and relationship was off.

Santana and Josiah simultaneously fell the fastest, and weirdly slow...?  I was thrown by how he was kissing her everywhere at the wedding, then eating her out in his kitchen, but then Santana kept insisting they were just friends and saying she didn't want them to confuse things by hooking up while only pretending to be together. There just kept being moments where I'd pause and think to myself "are these two for real?"

But, I probably should have gotten a clue when early on in the book the characters just breezed paced the point that Santana literally drowned... i.e. she wasn't breathing and Josiah had to give her mouth to mouth. Like, what?!? In the book, Josiah told her this happened and she didn't even respond to it!!!

Anyway, good for a quick smutty read (or listen) if you're not trying to get sucked into the story.

I liked the two main characters. They both knew what they wanted, and decided to take a chance.  I liked the fact that the author didn't prolong the relationship between Josiah and Santana.
The description of their lovemaking was πŸ”₯ πŸ”₯ πŸ”₯ the way I clutched at my imaginary pearls. Damn! 😁
This is a beautiful love story.

Eh, it was okay.
I really liked the cover of this book and Diem's narration. The black romance and black friendships  was a vibe. I also liked that Josiah prayed before meals. I don't know, I can't explain it but that appealed to me.
It was just ok!
Forgettable plot but great array of POC characters that felt like I was reading a script from an episode of Tyler Perry's Sistas = 3 stars🌟
