I think the love relationships in this book were not developed well. No really reason as to why they happened. They just did. I don't like it when authors do that. Then again this is a teen novel, so what do you expect?

this cover almost put me off, but i'm glad i didn't because this book was really good! having low expectations helped, but the characters were great and humour was on point. i love solange and lucy's friendship and lucy and nick together <3
Spoiler i can't believe she got him through the bloodchange, just fuck me up less sure about kieran, it felt a bit instalove to me, but i guess we'll see how that goes in the next books

Hearts at Stake is the first book in the Drake Chronicles series and it was a great way to start off a series. I just loved getting to enter this wonderful world and meet these great characters. I just fell in love with all of them. I just loved getting to go along with these characters journey and getting to see them handle all the situations that they are thrown in. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this series.

This first book in the Drake Chronicles was a freebie being offered on my nook. Always being interested in new authors and their writing styles, I gave it a chance. This book was fun and entertaining, a quick read that could easily become someone's guilty pleasure. The book follows the Drake family, vampires, and their family troubles. The story is much more geared toward teenagers, in that it stays in the teenage realm and doesn't venture into adult topics (like some other vampire novels). Harvey is obviously a more green writer, her style is developing and is not perfect. That being said, I'm planning on getting the other Drake Chronicles soon because her characters were well developed and interesting. This one earns 3 stars.
