I got this book as a free giveaway from the local library summer reading club. It kept me interested the whole time, but it was about a bunch of playgroup moms. They hire a young girl as a musician for their children. There are mountains of chaos that come from each of their lives and secrets!

This was a banger of a debut. The writing was clever and clear. The world of rich mommy’s, which has been popular subject matter lately, stayed incredibly interesting through secrets, twists and turns that I did not see coming. The dialogue was incisive.

This author is an auto-buy for me now.

STOP THE MOTHER LOVING PRESSES!! Happy & You Know It was just what the doctor ordered. I devoured this novel today. I don’t know about you, but I have been in such a quarantigue (quarantine fatigue, thanks @theholdernessfamily). The constant anxiety and stress with the state of our world has been getting to me lately, which is why I 100% recommend taking a few hours to read this book!

This is the definition of chic-lit. It tackles topics of motherhood, friendship, and social media unworthiness, all while being shrouded in dark humor and secrecy. It reminds me of one of those tasty reality tv shows that everyone is embarrassed to admit they love (think “Bravo”). The characters in the novel are believable and well developed. I am a sucker for a book with a strong female cast which is what initially attracted me to this novel.

A NYC playgroup hires Claire, a musician kicked out of her band right before they make it big, to be the playgroup’s musician (I didn’t know this was a thing?). Whitney is the leader of the playgroup and from the outside, it looks like she has it all - a sexy husband, instagram fame, and a beautiful home- but does she? Amara is a quick-witted mom with financial issues and a loving husband. Then there is Gwen, an old money veteran mommy who has a few secrets of her own. Throw them together and you have the makings of the next big Bravo tv show. Lies and betrayal run rampant among these women. Will the secrets destroy their friendships or will they bring them all together? Read the book to find out. It’s more fun to be surprised. : )
