SPOILERS

I think my soul just died before the new year. My lord, I try not to rant too hard on author’s works because they are someone’s blood sweat and tears, but this book was just not good.

You meet the characters and honestly, none of them are people I’m invested in or want to root for. They don’t have any redeeming qualities about them. I got to the 60% of my audiobook and called it. Like after Ben kissed Mimi and then later he reveals he was listing after her mother?! I just could not continue that weirded me out more than any bloody gore ever could. I was just so uncomfortable.

I just can’t with this book.

Foley does it again! It is another super good read for me. Do I think things wrapped up a little too nicely in the end? Yes, but I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting.
Def check trigger/content warnings tho

The Paris Apartment is an interesting thriller. While I quite enjoyed it, there were issues with the pacing - it lagged greatly in the middle - and the overall plot was a little spotty. It's also a thriller that would not necessarily hold up on a reread, as the major plot twist completely changes the entire story. It was a good thriller, if a little confusing. The ending wrapped up almost too quickly, and there were several questions at the end that went unanswered.

You know how when you're a kid you can't sleep because you're afraid of the monsters under the bed? What happens if you start to suspect the monster might be you? Where do you hide?

Three words: Family. Secrets. Creepy.

I know this book has a lot of negative reviews, but I liked it. I didn't guess the second plot twist. I must admit the second twist was a little out there, but I guess I'll let it slide because I did enjoy the book for the most part.

One thing is sure: all residents of this apartment are crazy.

The good: The setting was perfect: creepy, old, steeped in eerieness. The big twists were shocking and unexpected, and the little twists were obvious enough I was able to figure them out a few pages before the reveal and feel smart.

The bad: Not quite enough twists to fully captivate me, the first 250 pages were really slow, some of the trauma the characters experienced before the story didn't have enough of an impact on the story to the point that I felt the inclusion diminished the story itself

The ugly: I hated the characters. Reading their thoughts was painful. Lots of eating disorders and body issues discussed too casually.
