This is the story of Naomi and Sebastian. She’s half Japanese and he was born in Tokyo. They end up at the same college where he is the star quarterback. Naomi is a cheerleader. He takes a bet from Reina who is from another duet. He’s to woo Naomi into losing her v card to him. On the side Naomi has a quasi relationship with her Japanese pen pal Akira. These letters are a thread throughout the duet. Sebastian and Naomi get in to each other pretty fast and they discover they both have the chase and rape kink. It’s consensual/ they have a safe word. He likes to chase her through the dark Forrest and she likes it. They do this a lot through book 1. While a lot of mean girl Stuff goes on with the other cheerleaders. Naomi is also searching for her sperm donor dad. Eventually she finds out about the bet and is furious. Then they get kidnapped and the book ends on a cliffhanger.

The writing was really engaging, which is to be expected from a Rina Kent book, and I pretty much inhaled this. I loved Naomi and Sebastian’s characters, both with dark pasts that are a huge part of their personalities. Though I felt like they may have jumped into the CNC stuff a little too quickly, those scenes were very thrilling. Looking forward to how things are resolved in book 2.

It took me a little longer to get into the story than the Royal Elite Series, but this book was still good. The tension, the mystery, the spice and the kinkiness really draw me into the story once past 33% mark. Now I am going to leave my guess here and see if I will get them right in the next book. I think Akira could be either Kai or Sebastian (leaning toward Seb). Maybe Akira could be Naomi's dad as well.

Heat: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

This kink is not the kink for me. I couldn’t get invested in the characters at all, but I didn’t really care for them in the previous duet either, when it was being set up that they’d have their own story. It wasn’t deep enough and nothing happened aside from the sex scenes that I really wasn’t into. Sometimes it feels like Rina is trying too hard to tie the series and duets together with past ones that it feels phony and ruins the writing of the story. Like unnecessarily pointing out things that happened previously that you should know if you read them in her suggested reading order

Good one
I'm actually in a MAJOR reading slump and if anyone can get me out of it, it's RK
Like I genuinely know that she writes the SAME plot all over again but I really don't give a fuck
Like she just changes names but I couldn't care less
