From the eyes of a psychologist major I didn't really like this book maybe if I would've read it earlier in my life my opinion would be different.

I read this because my daughter really liked it and wanted me to read it too. I enjoyed this book as much as I could since the whole dark, realistic chick lit is not really my thing. However, in this case, I think McCormick does a good job of conveying the seriousness of the lives of the girls in this book with out it being too heavy handed and preachy.

Cut, Patricia McCormick
3:3.5/5
Cut is a fun-to-read story about Callie not only finding her voice but also ‘finding’/making her way to recovery and wanting to get better.
Though the characters felt a little bit hollow and the book could have had a lot more potential to it if it weren’t such a short story. With all the research done this could have easily been an amazing story with more depth and, especially, character depth and background information/story to it.

Acho que estava à espera de mais. As personagens não foram muito desenvolvidas, a plot foi fraca...senti-me insatisfeita, no geral.

It was interesting to see her progression towards accepting help from others. I would have liked to see more of her journey towards healing and developing coping skills.
Graphic: Vomit, Self harm, Eating disorder, and Addiction
Moderate: Emotional abuse
Minor: Abandonment, Alcoholism, Drug use, and Drug abuse
librariann's review
Hospitalized in a group home with other teenage girls, Callie isn't ready to come to terms with why she cuts herself. In fact, she does not speak at all. Slowly, Callie begins to open up to her psychologist, especially after another girl who is more brazen about her cutting arrives.

I have read this book three times and it has yet to feel old or redundant. It's a quick read but it's enough to allow you to dive into the mind of this confused and lost individual. The present tense makes you feel like you're taking each step along with the character. I felt everything she felt. I've never found myself in her situation but when I read I feel like I'm living her life.

It was ok. I agree with a few reviewers that this novel was a little superficial and didn't go very deep. Both with the plot and handling self-harm. That makes me a little concerned that it would rather encourage self-harm in young readers rather than dispel the myths around it.
